Proceeding with Un-Notified consent & Stuff Article

We hope everyone had a wonderful break over the Xmas period. While I had a great time with my family, the stress of this ongoing project has kept me up at night. I continue to raise concern and highlight the damage this will do to our Ohakune community & our tourism, not forgetting the huge safety concerns and lack of oversight in the designs.

I am speaking to a number of journalists about this utter waste of taxpayer money, including The Taxpayer Union who has taken a deep interest in the matter.

Recent OIA documents show "Currently the focus is on “shovel ready” for funding applications rather than where the need actually is", with the CEO admitting he had to "work within the governments criteria for funding"

MHUD (Ministry of Housing and Urban Development) have confirmed that "RDC will provide $2.3m of co-funding for the land development of the Project" which we believe is the land value which has been essentially gifted to Kāinga Ora.

Please follow up with your MP's and any journalists you know and have them contact me on

Please also email Chris Bishop the housing minister asap with your views and asking they put a stop to this asap.
